Using your internet connection our remote backup service will backup your files to our off-site data storage facility. Every night, your critical files are gathered up, encrypted with an encryption code that only you have, the backup software compresses the files and contacts our off-site data storage facility to transmit the data.

RBackup is so secure that it is impossible for a Service Provider to recover files if a customer forgets his encryption key. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you make a Key Disk (floppy or CD) during installation of the backup software, and that you record your encryption key on paper and keep it in a safe place, off-site (away from your office). You will need this if your data is lost and needs to be restored.

PRINT ENCRYPTION KEY - We added a new 'Print form' during installation of the Client software which displays (and can be printed) containing the Encryption Key and more information about the registration of the client software. This can be used as a paper backup to the Key Disk. The form is displayed whenever any info changes which effects the login or encryption key data.

Note however, that there is an alternative which can be used in emergencies called Key Escrow.
